About Portable Appliance Testing
The service offered uses the current Approved Code of Practice as published by The Institution of Engineering and Technology together with City and Guilds Qualification as the foundation for an accurate Inspection and Test procedure with minimum disruption your business.
Every Inspection and Test includes;
- A thorough visual inspection to assess the suitability of the equipment
for its location together with its general condition and operation.
- Check for correct fuse rating and replace as necessary
- Replace any damaged or faulty plugs
- Rectify any faulty connections*
- Carry out metered tests using the latest calibrated test instruments
- Compile records of all test results
- We will draw management attention towards any overloaded power points
or indiscriminate use of trailing sockets and cube adaptors.
- Wall sockets are tested for correct wiring sequence and earth connection.
- All appliances which PASS an Inspection and Test are clearly labeled
with details to cross refer to the record sheets
- A certificate is drawn up at the end of the Inspection and Test
- Any appliance which fails any part of the Inspection and test is immediately
brought to management attention. It will not necessarily be disabled.
* Appliance internals are specifically excluded
All of the above is included in the costs as set out on
our COSTS page.
When choosing a PAT testing
company you may wish to ask a few questions
- Is the test engineer qualified to City & Guilds standards?
- Is the test instrument within calibration?
- Is the test procedure in accordance with the current Approved Code of
Practice?
- Are all test records promptly delivered and easy to understand?
- Is unbiased advice freely available between test visits?
- Does the company have a recognised accreditation?
- Is the company fully insured to carry out the Inspection and Test?
- Is an out of hours service available at no extra cost?
The answer from us to all of these is an unhesitating YES
